About once a decade, a real estate project arrives that truly transforms the urban landscape. Undoubtedly, the Kikar Hamedina Towers project is one of them.
Electra and Ashtrom are leading this initiative. They are two of Israel’s largest construction companies. Consequently, the project is reshaping Tel Aviv’s skyline. Furthermore, it is changing the reality at one of Israel’s most iconic squares.
Three 40-Story Luxury Towers
The story of Kikar Hamedina dates back to before the state’s founding. At that time, Tel Aviv’s northern neighborhoods began expanding eastward along the Yarkon River. These areas are now called the “Old North”.
Later, the square itself took shape during the 1960s and 1970s. Originally, planners intended to include an additional inner ring of buildings.
In the late 1970s, Tel Aviv Mayor Shlomo Lahat attempted to rezone the square. He wanted to turn it into public space. However, the landowners petitioned the High Court of Justice. The court ruled in their favor.
Eventually, a new master plan was approved. Finally, in 2019, the project officially broke ground. This happened after decades of delays. Moreover, the team had to address unique infrastructure challenges, such as relocating a Ministry of Defense antenna.
Work began on the last significant open space in historical Tel Aviv. Today, the towers are nearing completion. They are already rising on the skyline.
A Historic Project Deserves Historic Documentation
As mentioned, Electra spearheads the impressive Kikar Hamedina Towers project. They work via their construction arm, Electra Building. Additionally, they collaborate with Ashtrom. Ashtrom is one of Israel’s most established firms.
The companies formed a dedicated partnership. They are redefining one of the country’s most iconic spaces. Specifically, they focus on architecture and public space. Also, they set a high standard for execution and design.
It was clear that a project of this magnitude deserved thorough documentation. Therefore, planning started even before construction hit full speed. The leadership teams at Electra and Ashtrom understood the situation. A historic project of this scale called for equally historic documentation.
Four Years in Four Minutes
That’s when we at TimelapseIT were brought in. We equipped the site with time-lapse cameras at the companies’ request. The goal was to create a final video. This video accelerates the process into a fast-paced visual.
As a result, the outcome is striking. It is one of the best time-lapse videos produced in Israel. It fits one of the most significant recent projects.
In the final video, you can see three elegant 40-story luxury towers. They rise from the empty square of Kikar Hamedina in just four minutes. This is a visual summary of a process that took over four years. Now, you are invited to watch the impressive result below.
